Weyerhaeuser Operations Team Leader - Raymond, WA in Raymond, Washington
This Manufacturing - Operations Team Leader is a full-time, salaried exempt position, reporting to the Operations Manager at the Raymond (WA) Lumber mill. This mill has approximately 150 employees and produces wood products, by teaming with the following departments throughout the facility: log yard, sawmill, dry kiln, planer and shipping operations.
Key Functions: The Operations Team Leader provides leadership to a shift of hourly associates in achieving excellence in safety, quality and production; and is responsible for safely planning, coordinating, maintaining and enhancing operational objectives, and supporting maintenance, to drive continuous process improvement in the manufacturing of lumber products.
Responsibilities include: * Role modeling excellence in safety and supporting the ongoing safety efforts, which includes involving and engaging associates, to assure an injury-free working environment; * Pro-actively identify areas where safety, safety systems, quality and productivity issues could arise and address any concerns; * Ensure compliance with all applicable Weyerhaeuser, federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies; Administer policies and plant rules fairly and consistently; * Provide effective coaching and feedback as necessary; Appropriately resolve employee issues/concerns; * Conduct crew meetings and trainings as needed; Implement and coordinate departmental safety process, along with general training.
Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree. * Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory or key leadership role in a production environment. * Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to proactively lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with safety policies/programs. * Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set. * Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and engage employees in a team environment. * Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals. * Strong planning, organization and facilitation skills. * Strong work ethic, good judgment and sound decision-making skills. * Competent computer skills, including MS Office and other Windows based programs. * Willing and able to work all shifts, including weekends.
The following qualifications are preferred: * Bachelor's degree in related field. * Sawmill experience or other wood products manufacturing experience. * Hands-on experience working with optimizing systems. * Knowledge of maintenance planning software, such as SAP. * Working knowledge of business and financial concepts. * Basic understanding of labor and employee relation principles.
