Weyerhaeuser Valuation Intern in Seattle, Washington

Weyerhaeuser’s Valuation team is seeking an Intern to support independent asset valuations for key business decisions. This internship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students in academic programs such as Forestry, Forest Business, Finance or other related fields.

    What Our Intern Will Do Our Intern will work alongside and under the supervision of experienced timberland investment managers and will interact with our timberlands and real estate teams. Our internships are structured as entry-level jobs that expose participants to dozens of skills and build proficiencies in a variety of forestry and financial valuation, including:

  • Advanced financial modeling, including discounted cash flow analysis

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access modeling

  • Use of proprietary valuation models and techniques

  • Timberland analysis using GIS applications

  • Timber price analysis and database work

    • How the Program Works * The three to six-month internship will take place in 2018 and allows for flexible start and end date.

    Our Intern will work out of our Corporate HQ in Seattle, WA with occasional field trips to timberland tracts, gaining experience in timberland operations and financial valuation methods. No two days are alike, this broad professional exposure to acquisition and divestiture projects provides a solid foundation for future career opportunities in forestry and finance.

    Basic Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program focused on Forestry, Forest Management, Finance or a closely-related field required.

  • Students who have completed at least Junior year of undergraduate studies or are enrolled in a Master's program.

  • A combination of coursework in forestry and finance is preferred.

    Additional Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of forestry

  • General understanding of discounted cash flow analysis

  • Ability to work well in unsupervised situations

  • Strong data analysis skills using Microsoft Excel and Access
